Our desire at The Pearl Foundation is to see that the orphaned children who are entrusted to us receive proper and abundant care that fulfills their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs.
To mature into healthy, whole people, positively contributing to the society in which they live, children need to be loved and accepted while experiencing a secure family life within a supportive community. Too often orphaned children are kept isolated from society and experience little or nothing of traditional family living. Although some are fed and educated, very few are given the emotional and spiritual grounding that is so necessary for well-rounded development into healthy adulthood.
For these reasons and many more, this foundation will not be creating traditional "institutions." Rather, we will be building and maintaining a unique temporary home enviroment within the Spark of Light Village, while supporting programs for adoption, fostering, hosting and mentoring within the community. We will match each child's needs to a specific plan, in order to provide a healthy family enviroment. Our staff, the community members and the families with whom they live will join in becoming their life-long support who will replace relatives lost to disease, war or abandonment.
Each facility will be self-sustaining; meaning that it will be bio/ecologically sound and energy independent. Various animals and organic crops will be raised on the compound's acreage to feed the staff and the children we receive. The excess crops, animal products, crafts (created and sold by us) and investment returns, will be used to cover much of the monthly budget required to manage the compound, and support the needs of the Spark of Light Village.
Whole food nutrition, naturopathic medicine, and proven herbal/homeopathic remedies will be used for the orphans. They will be treated within the community clinic and Village for preventative and optimal care, as well as first-line treatment. Western allopathic medicine and pharmaceutical drugs will also be used as the alternate choice for illness and/or injuries.
All Spark of Light children will be educated within the community school systems. The Pearl Foundation will work in cooperation with local educators to upgrade the schools; adding a library and additional curriculum such as adult literacy, and special education classes.
Our goal is to realize the unique value and potential of each child. We are committed to them becoming healthy in body, mind, emotion and spirit. They will be given the opportunity to leave our combined care and grow as fully functioning and empowered adults; completely capable of supporting themselves. Together, we will teach our children how to possess the self-confidence and practical abilities needed to join the larger society. Each will carry a vision for their own lives, and a healthy desire to discover, grow and greatly impact the community and nation in which they live.
