What Makes "Spark of Light Village" Different?
We understand that nothing can replace a home with the stability and comfort a family provides. Therefore our greatest desire is to place all of our children within a stable family environment. We will accomplish this through adoption, fostering for long term care, hosting, or mentoring. Local families will take our children into their hearts and homes working in partnership with us. This will result in great benefits for everyone involved. All children who come to us will be united with a participating family.
The Village will have its own orchards, produce fields, livestock and beehives to use in sustaining the orphanage and in creating an income. We will invite community members to co-op our fields, orchards and beehives, thus creating support for these families as well. Innovative farming methods, and organic farming techniques will be taught to those who co-op with us, thereby increasing their knowledge and skills. The goal is total self sufficiency!
We will build environmentally sustainable buildings which will use solar, wind, and methane gas for power. Our crops will be organically grown, and we will recycle all forms of waste creating fuel; i.e. bio-diesel, methane, etc. We will work in concert with agricultural experts and the local people. Environmentalism will be continually taught and practiced.
Experts in the field of naturopathic medicine, environmentalism, agriculture, science, etc will be invited to teach and stay as our guests. Continuing Education programs in reading, writing, math, health, agriculture and science will be available for all Spark of Light children and community members. We will also add continuing educational outreach programs to enhance schools already established within the community, and will give aid to those within the township who cannot otherwise afford to go to school. Education is available for everyone who desires it.
Within each community we will build or upgrade an existing clinic/hospital where we will assist in the treatment of the children and the community through naturopathic and western (allopathic) medicine. Treatment and health education classes will be available for all, including those who cannot afford the services. Those without money may barter their time/craftsmanship in exchange for healthcare. No one will be turned away. Through education we will empower the people to take much of their health and wellness into their own hands.
